Tooth Loss Solutions in Mississauga at Meadowvale Dental Group
Tooth loss can happen unexpectedly. Meadowvale Dental Group and its highly trained staff are experts in helping patients find restorations that address their specific needs.
We offer a wide selection of restorative solutions from our Mississauga dental office. Among the most popular are full, partial, and implant-supported dentures. These oral appliances are specifically designed to resemble your original teeth and surrounding tissue, leaving you with a functional, natural-looking smile.
Types of Dentures at Meadowvale Dental Group
Dentures are durable appliances that can last for many years. Our Mississauga practice specializes in several types of restorations for tooth loss, including:
- Complete dentures: Recommended when all the teeth in an arch are lost
- Partial dentures: Recommended when some natural teeth remain in each arch.
- Implant-supported dentures: Recommended for any tooth replacement needs, however, patients must be healthy enough to support surgical implant placement.
What Kind of Denture is Right for Me?
|With many options available, selecting the right tooth loss solution can be challenging. When weighing your denture options, consider the differences between the dentures offered at Meadowvale Dental Group: |
Complete, or full dentures, are a cost-effective solution for tooth loss. The materials used are extremely durable and the appliance is held in place through a combination of suction and adhesive. While there is an adjustment period for full dentures, patients quickly become adapted to wearing the dentures and can regain dental function.
Partial dentures are flexible tooth loss solutions that can be removed or fixed into the dentition. Removable partial dentures are supported by a retainer-like metal structure that fits, undetected, behind the teeth. Similar to complete dentures, partial dentures may need to be replaced every few years to ensure dental function.
Implant-supported dentures, or Hybrid Dentures, use 2-4 implant posts per arch that are surgically inserted into the jaw to create a foundation for a removable overdenture. To be considered eligible for implant-supported dentures, patients must have sufficient jaw bone. This alternative is the only permanent tooth loss solution that eliminates replacement and maintenance costs associated with complete or partial removable dentures.
Getting Full, Partial, or Hybrid Dentures in Mississauga
To create a great fitting denture, our Mississauga dentist will take impressions of your teeth. During later appointments, patients try on the denture to ensure the final appliance is the proper shape, color, and fit. At the final appointment, our dentists will adjust and place the completed denture for a natural and comfortable fit.
For patients considering implant-supported dentures, the process for receiving your restoration involves a few additional steps. Scans will be taken of your mouth to determine the best placement of the implant posts. The posts are then surgically placed and fuse with the bone through the process of osseointegration. During this healing process, an overdenture is created to match the rest of your dentition. The overdenture and implant posts are then connected by attachments known as abutments.
